New release of Hub — Customisable Registration widget and accessibility improvements

Welcome to the Hub release notes — this is the first one.

Hub release notes cover updates to the Hub itself and its configuration, as well as updates to its widgets. They also include updates to the new Schedule Viewer.

Updates to the underlying products continue to be provided by those products' own release notes.

This release lets administrators customise the descriptive text shown in the Registration widget and brings a set of accessibility improvements across the Hub, including more descriptive page titles. It also fixes an issue when editing text widgets that contain links.

This release is pushed to test on the release date and to production one week later.

New

  • Editable Registration widget text
    • What changed: Administrators can now set their own plain-text description on the Registration widget (Admin → App settings → Hub), with a 160-character limit, to better explain to students what they need to do in Registration.
    • Note: This is a temporary solution. In the longer term this text will be replaced with dynamic, higher-level information, such as whether the registration period is open and whether the student has any selections left to make.

Improvements

  • Accessibility improvements
    • Descriptive page titles: each page now has a browser tab title that describes the current page including the institution name.
    • Additional navigation and accessibility work, including Hub breadcrumb and title-block updates and an error-page heading-level fix.

Bug fixes

  • Editing text widget titles that contain links
    • In Admin → App settings → Hub, you can now edit the Title field of a text widget that contains a link. Previously the link popup blocked editing the title, and removing the popup also removed the link.
