The release notes provide information on the features and improvements in the specified version. The release dates that are related to the version of the release are published in the Study guide release schedule.

‍

Improvements

The issues in release mentioned under the section improvements are considered as new functionality, user experience improvements or bug fixes.  Issues marked as hotfix are developed in this sprint but applied to the previous release or directly to production, depending on impact.

‍

As a user I want an even faster Study guide - SG-717

The Study Guide response and usability is improved, focusing on the underlying subjects:

  • Pages arrive complete and ready to read; Every page, both the public study guide and the administration pages, now arrives with its content already in place. Students no longer see an empty frame or loading placeholders while the page fetches its data. Forwards, such as opening the root address, a tab that is hidden or unknown, or the login page while already signed in, now happens before the page is shown, so readers land directly on the right page.
  • Switching between tabs and pages is much faster; Switching tabs or opening a study or course page could take up to three seconds in our measurements. It now takes around a third of a second, and returning to a page you visited before it is even faster.
  • Lighter pages and quicker administration screens; The overview pages now loads about a fifth less code, the editor, the date picker and formatted text are only loaded when a page needs them, and your institution's logo is loaded first so the page appears sooner. The administration pages for tabs, filters, widgets and parameters now need far fewer database queries to load.

Import filters should be respected on every import - SG-794

The parameters import.studyFilter and import.moduleFilter limit which studies and courses are imported. A customer reported that the filters seemed to work only in the nightly import. When an import was started by hand, studies and courses that the filter no longer selected were not removed if they had been imported in the last few hours. Depending on the time zone this was up to 2 hours in Europe and up to 11 hours in Australia. The Import button on a study or course page also ignored the filter completely. This has been fixed:

  • After an import of a year, every study and course the filter no longer selects is removed, however recently it was imported.
  • The Import button on a study or course page now applies the filter as well. If the filter no longer selects that study or course, it is removed. Other studies and courses that no longer match are removed with the next import of the whole year.

‍

As an administrator I want more information on the Parameters page options - SG-794

Under Administration, Parameters, each parameter now has a question mark that explains what it does, with an example and where you will see the effect. When you edit a parameter, the explanation and its default value are shown above the fields.

‍

Switching off search engine indexing works again - SG-794

Setting the parameter analytics.indexing to false is meant to ask search engines not to index the study guide, but it had no effect. This has been fixed. If analytics.indexing is set to false in your environment, search engines will be asked not to index your study guide from this release on.

Security

An integral part of our development and build process is automatic scanning for known security vulnerabilities. The vulnerabilities will be fixed based on their impact, which means that in some cases an immediate hot-fix will be applied, and in other cases the vulnerability will be fixed in the current or next Sprint (release). The security section provides an overview of the vulnerabilities mitigated. ‍

For more information on reported vulnerabilities, see the central database of vulnerabilities.

‍

In this release no vulnerabilities have been reported.
